Our Mission

The Popular Party is a new American political movement. Our mission is to give the people something they've never had: a government that truly represents you.

The two-party system has learned how to preserve itself; optimizing elections, institutions, and public debate around its own survival rather than the common good. So long as that equilibrium holds, meaningful reform will remain impossible.

Our goal is to break through the only way possible, building from the ground up.

In the near term, that means recruiting tomorrow's leaders, contesting small offices, and building an institution strong enough to win nationally.

Our end goal is to end the federal system through constitutional reform and establish a new government to solve the problems the old system was never built to solve.

Functional Representation

Our platform is Functional Representation. Functional Representation means that people should be represented according to what they do and not just according to where they happen to live.

It also means representation in the strict sense: a working relationship between the governed and the governing. The federal system completes procedures and declares the output legitimate regardless of what happens. Representation must actually succeed at representing the people.

The federal system fails because people are not reducible to geography, because aggregated ignorance is not knowledge, and because procedural legitimacy is no proof that the people have been truthfully heard. Today the state can't know the people and the people can't know the state.

The Popular Party proposes a new system that will truly represent the people's interests and reach the goal representation was always for: a free people, with equal dignity and equal rights, and abundance for all.
